Head and Neck Anatomy Review: With Radiographic Interpretation

This course will review the anatomy of the head and neck region. This course will discuss various aspects of head and neck anatomy such as the maxilla, mandible, TMJ, nasal cavity and other surrounding structures. Once the appearance of these normal anatomic structures have been discussed, a brief discussion of some normal variations and pathologic conditions will be shown in order to understand what to look for when interpreting a change in appearance.

Your Diagnosis depends on how you take the scan

This lecture aims to show the attendee how important the correct imaging parameters (Field of view, resolution and patient position) are to obtaining the correct diagnosis. Dr. Tamimi will discuss these parameters in relation to some of the more common scan indications such as TMJ, Airway, orthodontics, implant and endodontics, helping the attendee understand the "why" behind her recommendations.

Influence of Facial Growth on Airway Dimensions

Small airway dimensions may be a risk factor for sleep related breathing disorders and upper airway resistance. The airway dimensions can be influenced by many factors including age, gender, jaw growth, tongue size and airway masses. The use of CBCT, spatially accurate 3d imaging, creates the opportunity to assess the airway dimensions and to identify factors that have contributed the diminution of airway size. A stratified diagnostic process and identification of the etiology of a small airway creates the opportunity to employ a therapy that targets the etiology.

The Future of Medical Imaging: Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Services

Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Services have the potential to collect and synthesize medical data to create methods for faster, easier, and more accurate analysis of a patient's condition. Integrating medical devices into the Internet of Things will allow us to take advantage of big data collected from all over the world to recognize patterns and draw insights on what patients are experiencing and how to best treat them. CurveBeam has been working on a deep-learning based segmentation and auto-measurement platform to enhance the value and efficacy of its CBCT extremity imaging products.
