I am really happy to report that we had a very successful AADMRT 33rd Annual Fall Convention. I think the member turn out was exceptionally high considering the tough year that we have all experienced. We had a total of 81 people attend. My Co-Chair Ron Thatcher and I worked really hard to offer a meeting that was versatile in speakers, with a vast knowledge in their topics and in a facility that was unique. I think we accomplished all of that and more.
The Atlantis Casino and Spa went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our event went off without a hitch. They were right there when we needed them to set up additional tables for the last minute enrollee's. They also added 10 additional people on our menu list for our luncheon. The food was amazing throughout the venue. For me personally, they really went the extra mile. I decided to wear a dress on the first day of the conference. I next to never wear dresses in the winter because I despise wearing nylons, I went against my better judgment . Before I left my stateroom, I had already ripped a stripe down my leg. I didn't prepare myself with a spare pair. I had asked Carol, worker on the conference floor, if there was some place to purchase a new pair. Carol walked me to the gift store and opened it just for me. Unfortunately they didn't have any, so she told me not to worry and she would take care of it. Before I knew it she had a new pair for me. She had sent one of her employees outside of the hotel to find my size and color! It took three different places to locate what I needed. Now that is what I call going above and beyond the call of duty!
During our luncheon I asked the general membership how they felt about the newsletter being sent to them via e-mail as a notice to check our website. The review seemed to be mixed. So please contact me and let me know how you feel about the subject. Do you still want the newsletter sent to you in print or have us send you a notice via e-mail guiding you to the website once it is posted. Please answer my "Round Table" question. This will be the 3rd time posted, the first two times I have had zero response. Your voice is important! Please respond.
After hours is sometimes my favorite time at the conventions. I love talking to all of my colleagues. Friday evening there was a large group of us that met after the i-CAT and Image-Works/Newtom users meeting in one of the many restaurants in the Atlantis. This is where I was having a conversation with Shelley Danforth discussing future AADMRT Conventions. At this point we only had Minneapolis arranged. Now, thanks to Shelley she has agreed to host our AADMRT 2013 Fall Convention in Las Vegas. So stay tuned for details as they unfold.
I need to give special thanks to Matt Kroona, he did the announcing throughout the convention. He is my hero. Matt did an awesome job, introducing the speakers and also allowing setup time for each speaker by entertaining us with stories of his experiences inside and out of his work place. Matt, we couldn't have done it without you! Again, thanks. I cannot forget to mention Eric Iwamoto. I can always count on him to make our name tags for the conventions. I never have to ask him twice, he is always ready to help out. It is a great feeling to know that I can count on him!
