One of the unexpected benefits of being on the AADMRT Board of Directors is having a hand in or at least advance knowledge of the continuing education meetings that our group is organizing. If you attended our one-day CE meeting in Sacramento you know what a terrific and useful meeting it was.
As you are reading this, the brochure for our fall convention is in its final stages and should be in your hands early in the Summer. I urge you to save Thursday September 17 through Saturday September 19, 2009 so that you can attend this meeting. It too promises to be a strong meeting with many topics that are particularly useful to our field at this time.
Our fall meeting will be held in Portland, Oregon. This is a beautiful city that I hope to take some time to explore this time around. The few times I have driven east, up and around the Columbia River as it makes its way to the Pacific Ocean it is a breath taking sight. Bring your cameras or you will be sorry. Even if you do not leave the immediate area of the hotel, you will find great architecture both old and new. Great restaurants and coffee places.
While on the subjects of hotels, part of the cost of holding the meeting is the cost of the meeting rooms. This is often discounted if we as an organization book a predetermined number of sleeping rooms in the hotel where our meeting is held. If on a regular basis you book rooms somewhere else to save a few dollars, eventually we have to raise the registration price to cover the additional rental cost of the meeting room.
When we set our registration fees we always try to keep them as low as possible. Your stay in the convention hotel helps us keep the costs down for everyone.
I look forward to seeing you all in Portland in September.
