PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE | SPRING 2014By: Tracey Saucier
Hello Members,
I received an email a few weeks ago asking for the President's Message for the Summer Newsletter. I thought to myself, "Wow that’s a bit premature it's only....oh wait it's June; when did THAT happen?" My life tends to be pretty routine; I am the product of an engineer, so routine was drilled into me every day. If you picked any day at any time, I could tell you exactly what my Dad was doing at that point. I vowed to never be like that. I wanted to be spontaneous and go with the wind. And I do try to do things spontaneously, but one thing my Dad always said that still whispers in the back of my head is, “If you do most things the same way every time, you don’t have to think about it, it just happens, because it always happens." So change is not easy for me. I like consistency. I like knowing how my day, week , month, year is going to play out. Except for one little thing, this is life and life is not consistent. It throws curve balls every day, sometimes those curve balls can be traffic, or co-workers, or patients. I did not choose a career, or should I say the career that chose me is pretty far from being consistent. So I have learned to go with the flow at the office and to not sweat the stuff I can’t control. Unfortunately, that makes me even more routine in my non-working life. I get up, run, go to work, come home, feed the dog and the family, watch a little TV, and go to bed. It worked for my Dad and it works for me. However, the down side of routine is when someone says it’s Summer, I have to look at the calendar because it seems like it was just New Years. I’m sure most of you feel that the year is flying by also, even if you are not as routine as I am, before we know it the kids will be back in school, the days will be getting shorter, and the fall convention in San Diego will be right around the corner. It’s easy to put off registering for the convention, but I want to encourage everyone to take the time to register. It can be done online through the AADMRT website. Jerry Peck and his crew have worked very hard putting together what promises to be a convention not to be missed. San Diego is a great city, and one of my favorite places to vacation (yes, even routines need to take a vacation). It’s perfect for a family weekend, with Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, and beautiful beaches. I look forward to seeing everyone in November. Before you know it, I will be receiving an email for the Winter Newsletter. Maybe I’ll start working on that right now . . . . Tracey Saucier |
